We offer this list as a public service to pug people everywhere. To adopt a pug (or to find out if there is a pug party coming up in your area), please contact your nearest pug rescue group. (Please do not call them asking for puppies--that is very rare.) Adult pugs make fabulous pets who are very appreciative of being rescued. Often there are waiting lists, and a questionnaire to determine the best match for you and your living situation. Pugs are very adaptable, and the most common thing pug rescue people hear from new adopters is: "He/she just moved right in like s/he'd been there forever. Now we can't imagine life without him/her!"
Donations are always sorely needed. Pug Rescue organizations are all independent of each other, staffed by volunteers, and their only source of revenue is from caring pug owners and adoption fees (which rarely cover veterinary expenses). Pugs available for adoption are always spayed/neutered, and have been given a health check. Average fees usually range from $100 for older pugs to $300 for younger ones.
Even if you're not currently in the market for a pug, but would
like to help out, any one of the organizations listed below would appreciate
your donation of any amount. $25 will feed a foster pug a quality diet for
up to 3 months; $35 is the going price to have a rescue pug neutered; and
any and all amounts can be applied to veterinary bills which come from an
initial checkup, to treatments of various pug problems--which, as any pug
owner will tell you--can be quite extensive!
